What does Mike do on his days off?

Presenter Blogs

Once again we got under the skin of one of our well-loved presenters here at Ideal World! This time we picked the lovely Mike Mason as our victim.

Before getting ready for his Furniture Collection shows, we caught up with Mike to ask him a few fun interview questions about his life and Ideal World.

The Interview

Here’s what he had to say:

What do you like to do on your days off?
On my days off there is nothing I enjoy more than spending time with my family. I am all about my beautiful boy and my partner. The perfect day for me would be spending time together just doing our thing. Whether it be making Lego with my boy or just hanging out with the Goddess, doing both makes me very happy.

How did you get into presenting at Ideal World?
I got into presenting at Ideal World as a continuation from working in shopping television for a few years. I’d been given the opportunity to come up to Peterborough and present on the channel and the rest, as they say, is history! I would just like to add though what an incredible bunch of hard-working and talented individuals I get to work with every day. Be it producers, directors, camera operators and all of the different departments, the entire team all make it a fun place to work.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you on live TV?
To tell you what the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to me on telly is a hard question to answer. I have been working in television and light entertainment for so long now that I don’t think I get too embarrassed about anything really! That and the fact I have a very thick skin, although in live television many things do go very wrong you just have to laugh at it and carry on. Something I have done pretty much most of my life!

Have you got any special talents?
I’d like to think that I am a good listener when required to be. I love making things and really enjoy DIY. I written, produced and presented many things in my career so I think I am a good all-rounder! I’ve never really taken myself too seriously so maybe that is a talent in itself.

Tell us one thing we might not know about you!
I’ve done many things in my life and have enjoyed all that I have done. I’ve worked with some fantastic individuals! Some you may know, some you may not, but I’m always reminded when asked such a question about the time my face was plastered on billboards all around the country! It was advertising an ITV show called “Soapstars”. I was pictured in a pose not very flattering at all with my hair (yes I did once have hair). It was greased and I was trying to portray someone overacting. It was the most unflattering picture and it ended up everywhere….literally! Oh, and I was also Ewan McGregor’s stand-in! Not bad for a bald fella from London eh.

Keep up to date with Mike on his Facebook page! Or find out when he’ll be on your screens next using our TV schedule.
