We all want to make that positive change for 2017, it could be to exercise more, eat better or simply to enjoy life more.
In fashion, clothes and how you feel in them can have an affect on our confidence. If you look into a wardrobe full the brim of clothes and declare ‘I have nothing to wear’ (we all do it) or the clothes you do wear do nothing for you, then it’s time to make some changes.
Stand in front of your wardrobe and take a minute to note what colour stands out the most. If it’s mostly black or darker colours then try to inject some lighter hues. You don’t have to go for very bright colours, instead start off with neutrals such as creams, taupes and light silver greys. A jewel colour like bottle green or deep purple would also make a difference.
Go for colours that suit your skin tone. Hold the colour up to your face and see if it brings out your eye colour and warms your tone.
Then soak up all the lovely compliments!
We all cling onto items that are too small and unflattering, ones that don’t suit us anymore.
These clothes don’t serve any purpose than to make us feel less confident so it’s time to ditch them.
As a general guide if you are a Pear or Apple shape or have more weight around the tummy go for something with shoulder detail to balance the hip area. Fit and flare tops that drape over the tummy are such a confidence booster as they flatter beautifully.
If you are curvy, hour glass, stop hiding it under baggy layers and try more fitted items which are tailored well.
We all tend to get stuck in a ‘Style rut’, we wear the same style because it’s safe but not necessarily flattering. It’s time to shake off that style and try something new.
If you live in leggings, then try to swap them for a great pair of trousers, keeping the comfort factor, you could try our tapered trousers. Team them with a dip hem top and say good-bye to that baggy jumper.
If you don’t wear dresses, it’s time to try a new style. There are so many to choose from, a favourite of mine is the Angel sleeve from Lisa Riley’s Just Be You range. Wear dresses with opaque tights if you are not ready to bear your pins just yet.
Start with one item then build it from there and soon you will have a whole new style.
