Ever wondered what’s it’s like to be a presenter? We managed to catch up with Joanne Vandermerwe-Mahon here at Ideal World!
What’s your favourite thing about Ideal World?
The people! And of course the amazing products and prices! So PPP! People Products and Price!
Is it hard being a presenter?
It cannot be described as an easy role, but if you have a good memory and can hold 4 conversations at the same time and don’t mind looking silly from time to time it’s a dream! I can only describe it as trying to read a book while having a conversation, trying to watch TV and listen to the radio, all at once!
What got you into presenting?
A colleague here pushed me to have a go, so I did and 15 years later here we are! I had been offered a TV journalism opportunity when I was still at school doing my A-levels but I didn’t have a clue what I wanted to do back then. Looks like it was meant to be…
What do you do in your spare time?
Look after my little family. Our 5-year-old daughter is the light of my life and because I work full time, every minute with her is precious. My passions are homemaking and doing lots of things myself so I’m always making, building or painting something. I also spend a lot of time cooking and cleaning.
What’s a fun fact about yourself?
I was born in a tiny town in South Africa called Discovery!
Of course, like all presenters, Joanne has a fair few meetings throughout the day before she goes on air! Here she is with producers Paul, Steve and Hoover guest, Bev Hare and her husband, Lloyd Hare.
