It’s summer which means it’s time to dust off the apron and get baking! Like me do you watch all the wonderful cakes being created on the telly, but don’t have the time or know-how to dare try it yourself?! As part of our series of top tips, we’ve brought in Queen of the Kitchen Sarah Moore to give us some expect “How to” advice! Let’s get baking!
Love Victoria sponge, but haven’t got a clue how to bake it? No worries just check out the video tutorial below.
- 8oz each of soft butter or stork
- caster sugar and self raising flour
- 4 Large Eggs
- half teaspoon baking powder
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
Combine all the ingredients on a stand mixer and gently combine until completely blended.
Divide between to non stick loose bottomed 20cm/8 inch sponge tins, greased and base lined with baking parchment.
The cakes need to go in a preheated oven at 180 c (170 c for fan) for 22-25 minutes or until the sponges are springy and cooked through. Cool in the tin for 15-20 minutes before turning out and leaving to cool completely on a wire rack before filling.
