6 things you need to know if you’re travelling solo to Sun Park Lanzarote

News, Travel

Sun Park’s regular tai-chi instructor Adam Jackson is back with another insight into retirement living. Sun Park on the island of Lanzarote is an exciting holiday-living resort for mature adults. Many people report that going to the resort was a life-changing experience, but what is it like if you’re travelling alone? Here are 6 things you need to know if you’re travelling solo.

It can be daunting travelling to a place you’ve never visited, especially when you’re travelling alone. However, Sun Park is unlike any place you’ve ever visited and it has a unique ethos that brings people back year after year. If you’re a solo traveller, keep in mind the following tips and you’re bound to have a wonderful time!

You’ll be made to feel welcome

From the moment you walk through the gate at Sun Park, you’ll be treated like one of the family. You’ll find everyone is welcoming and very friendly. Friendship is a key part of the ethos. Never be afraid to introduce yourself. Don’t be shy! Remember, wherever you go in Sun Park, you’re among friends!

Just be yourself

The atmosphere at Sun Park is very informal and relaxed. The ethos at Sun Park is very inclusive – people are accepted for who they are, not for what they do (or did) back in the UK or what you wear. Just be comfortable, relax, and be yourself.

Feel free to join in

From fitness classes such as Pilates, yoga and tai chi to creative arts, painting, pottery, dance and music, there’s always something going on. One thing is certain; during your stay at Sun Park, you’ll never be bored. There’s always something to do and people to do it with. And, of course, if you’re looking for some ‘down’ time to chill by the pool or relax in the warmth of the sun and read a book on your terrace, you can do that too!

Think of Sun Park as your home-from-home

Many people think of Sun Park as their home-from-home. It’s a gated, secure resort where everyone is made to feel safe and among friends. During your stay, you’ll have your own fully equipped apartment with double bedroom, shower/bathroom, kitchenette, lounge and a spacious balcony or terrace. When the time comes to leave, there is a storage facility offered to all members and guests where they can leave their belongings free of charge so whenever they return everything will be waiting for them.

Remember it’s self-service

Sun Park is a place where you’re free to serve yourself at any time of the day or night in exactly the same way you would at home. That said, Sun Park does have a cafe in the main reception where you can order tea, coffee and light refreshments and you’ll also find a fully stocked English Supermarket on-site which is manned during the day.

If you need help or advice during your stay, all you need to do is ask

As it’s a self-service resort, you won’t find a manned reception. However, if you need help and advice at any time, you can ask any of the members and guests. If for any reason, the person you ask can’t help you, chances are they’ll know someone who can. Of course, for any issues relating to your apartment, you can get fast help by submitting a form accessible through one of the computers in the main reception. Once submitted, help will be on its way!

You may travel there alone but, if you’re like most people, you’ll come away having had an unforgettable life experience with friendships that will last a lifetime.
