5 fitness tips to help you stay motivated this summer

As we get older, our metabolism slows down so we need to exercise more to maintain a healthy heart and a healthy mind. Here at Ideal World, we caught up with model and guest Linda Walton to talk about all things fitness.

Whether it’s taking a slow walk around the park or spending 10 minutes on a Vibrapower, any form of exercise is good for you!

What does your exercise regime consist of?

Well, I’ve got a Vibrapower at home so I usually spend 15-20 minutes on that every other day. I do squats, press ups and my sit-ups on it too. Occasionally I’ll go for a run as well.

What’s the best way to exercise from home?

I think the best thing to do is invest in some equipment, Ideal World has some fantastic stuff and I’m a big believer in the Vibrapower. You can do things at home on your own, whether it’s sit-ups or squats against the wall. DVDs also help too as it motivates you more.

How important is it for older people to exercise?

I think it’s really important as we’ve got to keep fit we’ve got to keep our heart and health in a good condition too. My two teenage daughters that are quite sporty and they’re always saying ‘come on mum you need to do something’ which helps a lot. I don’t have time to go to the gym as I’m a busy working mum so I like to do it at home.

How do you find the motivation to exercise?

It’s really hard, but I think my daughters help me a lot and I think being a model I have got to keep myself fit and looking good. As we get older our metabolism slows down which makes it harder too. You just need to keep going. Even if it’s 10 minutes a day doing something, it’s better than doing nothing.

Do you have any other tips for those looking to up their fitness game this year?

It just eating in general really. I don’t think dieting works, I’ve tried almost every diet going! It’s just healthy living, have everything in moderation. I’m trying to teach my daughters this, it’s not about dieting it’s about having a balanced diet and exercising.

    I have a Vibrapower machine. I had a total knee replacement 2015 and the knee still gives me pain. I have just finished a 6-week rehabilitation course at my local hospital but nobody – doctors, physics – know anything about vibration technology so unable to advise me about using the machine again.

    All I want to know is can I now use my Vibrapower machine with no detrimental effect one my knee?
